My Dear Mr Butcher:-
Thanks for yours of Feb.21st.
Pleased to note you recd. the Money Order OK. I certainly would have liked to have heard Mr Park's talk re his visit to America, he has a great personality & a wonderful sense of humor & I can assure you whatever he told you about the prize giving shows on Television here, was no exaggeration, some of them are really fantastic. Only a couple of weeks ago, a married couple won a contest & were given a trip to Paris & back. They were provided transportation by Air to New York, a weeks holiday there, then by air to Paris for two weeks, staying at the best hotels. They were given clothes & traveling luggage also a diamond ring & mink coat for the Lady & on their return here was a brand new automobile. You can imagine what that cost (at least ten Thousand Dollars - probably more.)
Just a while back, an entire brand new furnished home was given away - its fabulous. There are several shows every week that give away costly articles - television sets etc. & cash prizes accounting to several hundred Dollars, some up to Two Thousand or more. I think Mr Park viewed some of these contests when he visited my home - he was amazed. Funny thing, we are so used to it, that it is seldom exciting any more, & thats a fact.
Well, all for now Mr Butcher. Please convey my kind regards to all & every good wish always.
Very sincerely:-
Stan Laurel.
